Monadnock Paper Mills, Inc., the oldest continuously operating paper mill in the United States, today announced the release of its 2025 Corporate Sustainability Report, Momentum: Building on Our Legacy to Create a More Sustainable Future.
The report details progress across responsible manufacturing, operational efficiency, fiber-based product innovation, employee engagement and community responsibility.

Advancing Fiber-Based Solutions
In 2025, Monadnock expanded its portfolio of renewable, fiber-based alternatives to single-use plastics with several new solutions, including TÜV-certified Compostable Card, Harvest Envi PC 100 Performance Board and Blockout Carrier.
The new materials span signage, packaging and card applications, reflecting Monadnock’s focus on pairing material performance with more responsible fiber-based options.
Measurable Progress
In 2025, Monadnock diverted 98.5% of total waste from landfill and used 2,131 tons of post-consumer recycled pulp. The company also advanced several efficiency projects, including two V-belt drive conversions that generated an estimated 20,000 kWh in energy savings and a boiler continuous blow-down heat recovery project expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 2,400 MMBtu annually, equivalent to roughly 16,000 gallons of fuel oil. New freshwater controls are expected to reduce consumption by approximately 2 million gallons, while Monadnock’s 1.9 MW hydroelectric facility can supply up to 50% of the electricity required to manufacture, depending on precipitation and river flow.
Sustainability Recognition
Monadnock achieved an EcoVadis Platinum rating for the second consecutive year, placing the company among the top 1% of more than 90,000 companies evaluated worldwide.
The company was also inducted into the International Green Industry Hall of Fame.
Employees and Community
