2025 Corporate Sustainability Report

MOMENTUM

BUILDING ON

OUR LEGACY

TO CREATE A MORE

SUSTAINABLE

FUTURE.

A LETTER FROM OUR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND PRESIDENT

Dear Friends,

At Monadnock Paper Mills, continuity has always been at the heart of who we are. For more than two centuries, our ability to evolve with our customers, adapt to changing markets, and continuously improve our operations has allowed us to remain a trusted partner and a leader in sustainable fiber-based solutions.

The year 2025 reinforced the importance of staying nimble. As customer needs continued to evolve, we expanded our capabilities, strengthened our custom manufacturing expertise, and embraced the complexity required to support a broader product portfolio. Our ability to respond quickly, collaborate closely with customers, and develop tailored sustainable solutions remains our greatest strength.

Our commitment to operational excellence also continued partly through strategic investments and improvement initiatives supported by the New Hampshire Stabilization Grant. These efforts enabled us to enhance efficiency, optimize processes, and strengthen our manufacturing operations. Through these improvements, our team has been better positioned to support increased production demands, manage more frequent grade changes, and continue delivering the quality and performance our customers expect.

The past year also highlighted the importance of innovation in advancing our sustainability mission. We remain laser-focused on replacing single-use plastic materials with renewable, fiber-based alternatives that support a more circular future. Through ongoing research, product development, and close collaboration with our customers, we continue to create solutions that enable brands to achieve their sustainability goals without compromising performance.

As we expanded our product offerings and responded to market opportunities, our operations successfully navigated multiple product changes and increased manufacturing complexity. This flexibility reflects the dedication and expertise of our employees, whose knowledge, craftsmanship, and commitment make our continued evolution possible.

This year also marked a significant moment in Monadnock’s history as we experienced the loss of our owner and longtime CEO, Richard Verney. His vision, leadership, and dedication shaped the company and strengthened our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible manufacturing. While his absence is deeply felt, we continue forward with a renewed commitment to carrying on the legacy he built. The Monadnock team and I remain dedicated to advancing our collective mission while honoring the values that have guided us for generations.

Sincerely,

Andrew Manns
Chief Executive Officer and President

TONS CO2 EMISSIONS OFFSET USING VERIFIED EMISSION

See Appendix, Environmental Metric Chart

ENERGY & GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

MPM is committed to meeting or exceeding industry standards for energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through ongoing measurement, efficiency improvements, and reduction initiatives. This includes annual Scope 1 and 2 emissions tracking, operational efficiency audits, reduced travel emissions through virtual alternatives, and the use of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and Verified Emissions Reductions (VERs) to offset a portion of emissions.

Air Pollution

Monadnock is committed to pollution prevention and routinely monitors, controls, and treats air emissions, including volatile organic compounds, aerosols, corrosives, particulates, ozone-depleting substances, and combustion byproducts generated from our operations. We continue to identify sources of air emissions from our facility and prioritize the use of current technologies that reduce and minimize air pollutants.

Water

Monadnock tracks water use and discharge quality across its operations and is committed to meeting or exceeding industry standards for water consumption and effluent quality. Our 1.9 MW Monadnock hydropower project supports local ecosystem health and offsets conventional energy use, while we continue to reduce water use through audits, WaterSense product prioritization, and the use of recycled or white water where safe and feasible.

Materials & Waste

Monadnock minimizes waste generation by mapping waste streams, optimizing production processes, and selecting low-impact materials during product development. These efforts support continuous improvement in reducing overall waste across our operations.

Hazardous Materials

Monadnock implements a formal Hazard Communication Program to identify and manage risks associated with hazardous materials in our processes and products.

Biodiversity

Monadnock is committed to helping reduce its impact on endangered species and protected land areas by working to prevent operational pollution from entering waterways, exploring opportunities to support local biodiversity initiatives where feasible, and encouraging employee volunteerism with organizations that help protect and strengthen ecosystems in the community.

Employee Training

At Monadnock, employees receive annual training on our Environmental Policy and practices, with ongoing communication to ensure awareness and compliance.

ISO 14001 OBJECTIVES

Monadnock continues to advance environmental stewardship through focused, year-over-year improvements. This ongoing effort reflects our commitment to accountability, measurable progress, and continuous improvement across all areas of sustainability performance.

Electricity: In 2025, the conversion of two additional V-belt drives on equipment improved motor efficiency by approximately 5% each and extended drive belt life by 100–200%. This project resulted in an estimated savings of 20,000 kWh.

Waste Reduction: In 2025, Monadnock diverted 98.5% of waste from landfills through recycling initiatives. Paper stock loss was also reduced from 3.5% in 2024 to 3.45% in 2025, driven by targeted improvement projects including installation of valve position indicators and alarms on stock valves, recycling PM cleaner system “rejects” on select grades, and modifications to the paper machine wet end to reduce fiber loss to the sewer during heavy-weight grade runs.

Water Consumption: Water use averaged 6,651 gallons per ton of production in 2025. Consumption increased slightly due to smaller production runs, more frequent grade changes, and commissioning adjustments associated with the #1 PM cleaner system modification completed in July 2025. However, the installation of automatic fresh water control valves on the #1 PM wet end for weekly start-ups is expected to reduce fresh water use by approximately 2 million gallons moving forward.

Oil Consumption: In June 2025, Monadnock completed a boiler continuous blow-down heat recovery project expected to reduce energy use by approximately 2,400 MM BTUs annually, equivalent to roughly 16,000 gallons of fuel oil.

Hydroelectric Energy: Monadnock owns and operates a 1.9 MW hydroelectric facility on the Contoocook River, which can supply up to 50% of the electricity required to manufacture our paper products depending on annual precipitation and river flow conditions.

Recycled Fiber: We continue to manufacture products made with 100% post-consumer recycled fiber. We used 2,131 tons of post-consumer recycled pulp in 2025.

METRICS

The following metrics reflect both the progress and the variability inherent in a dynamic manufacturing environment. In 2025, operational performance was shaped by a combination of targeted efficiency improvements, evolving product demand, and increased production complexity driven by more frequent grade changes and product mix shifts. These factors influenced year-over-year results across energy, water, and material flows.

These outcomes are viewed through the lens of Monadnock’s continued commitment to sustainability, responsible resource management and continuous improvement across all areas of our operations. While certain areas saw incremental efficiency gains, others were impacted by external conditions and operational adjustments, including lower hydroelectric generation due to regional drought conditions and commissioning-related refinements in process systems. Taken together, these results underscore Monadnock’s ongoing focus on transparency and disciplined performance as we build on our legacy of responsible manufacturing.
